Principles of paediatric palliative care can and should be incorporated from the time of diagnosis of childhood cancer, concurrent with curative treatments, rather than only being provided as an alternative to those treatments at the end of life. As part of a larger national project funded by the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer to enhance provision of palliative care, we assessed the quality of palliative care provided to children with cancer and their families. In this session we will provide an overview of the larger project as well as the details of what is going well and areas for improvement in palliative care currently provided for children with cancer.
