Stories from the Floor: A Knowledge Translation Casebook on Improving Pediatric Pain Practices shares the knowledge and real world experience of frontline staff, who implemented a unique knowledge translation intervention, Evidence-based Practice for Improving Quality (EPIQ). The CIHR Team in Children’s Pain implemented the EPIQ intervention in 16 units at 8 pediatric hospitals across Canada to improve patient pain outcomes (Stevens et al. 2006-2012). The EPIQ intervention resulted in improved pain assessment and management practices and decreased pain intensity among infants and children in participating units. Stories from the Floor consists of 8 chapters, written by the Research Coordinators responsible for the process of implementing the practice change intervention. The Casebook provides a valuable perspective and resource for health care professionals interested in improving pain management and patient outcomes in their clinical setting.
